Procedure
A solution of 97.2 ml of oxalic acid in ethyl acetate was added dropwise to a solution of 300 mg (1.08 mmole) of 2R*, 3S*, 4R*)-2-(4-chlorophenyl)-3,4-dimethyl-2-[(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methyl]oxetane (prepared as described in Example 20) in 5 ml of ethyl acetate, and the crystals which precipitated were collected by filtration. After drying, there were obtained 229 mg (yield 57.7%) of the title compound, melting at 135°-144° C.
