A mixture of acid 2-(4-(quinolin-2-ylmethoxy)phenyl)acetic acid (2.0 g, 6.8 mmol) in SOCl2 (10 mL) was stirred at RT for 2 h under an inert atmosphere. The reaction was concentrated in vacuo to afford 2-(4-(quinolin-2-ylmethoxy)phenyl)acetyl chloride (2.0 g, 95%) as a light yellow solid.
