6-({[4-(Methyloxy)phenyl]methyl}oxy)pyrido[2,3-b]pyrazin-3-yl trifluoromethanesulfonate (1.39 g, 3.35 mmol) was dissolved in dry toluene (100 mL) under argon and tetrabutylammonium bromide (2.16 g, 6.7 mmol) was added. The reaction was heated at 85° C. for 4 h; 1.08 g of tetrabutylammonium bromide were added and the reaction was heated at 90° C. for another 6 h; 0.54 g of bromide were added and the reaction was heated for 3 h. The reaction was cooled to rt, the toluene was evaporated, the residue was partitioned between water (200 mL) and diethyl ether (400 mL). The layers were separated and the aqueous was extracted with diethyl ether (2×300 mL). The organic phases were combined and washed with water (300 mL) then dried and evaporated to afford the title compound (1.19 g, 100%).
