A mixture of racemic (2′S, 3S, 4′R)-6-chloro-4′-[5-chloro-2-(1-ethyl-1-methoxycarbonyl-propoxy)-phenyl]-2′-(5-chloro-2-methyl-phenyl) spiro[3H-indole-3,3′-piperidine]-2,6′(1H)-dione (100 mg, 0.159 mmol), LiOH (19.87 mg, 0.8 mmol), H2O (2 mL) and methanol (3 mL) was heated at 40° C. for 4 h. Then methanol was removed under reduced pressure. The aqueous solution was acidified to “pH” 1-2 by addition of concentrated hydrochloride acid. The precipitate was collected by filtration and purified by Prep-HPLC to give the title compound as a white solid (50 mg).
