6.5 g. of 1,5-diphenylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin7(1H)-one (0.0226 mol.) and 18 g. of diphenyl ether are heated at 250°-260° for 90 minutes. After standing overnight, the crystallized 2,6-diphenyl-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-4-ol is filtered off, washed with ethanol and dried at 80°, yield: 6.1 g. (94%); m.p. 280°-281°.
