The product from step (e) (1.97 g) was taken up in methylene chloride (12 ml) and trifluoroacetic acid (3 ml) was added under N2. The mixture was stirred for 1 hour at room temperature and then stripped to give the hydroxylamine as a viscous tan/red oil which was taken up in methylene chloride (5 ml).
