The mixture of (2E)-3-(4-{[4-chloro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]oxy}phenyl)-2-propenenitrile (18.0 g, 55.6 mmol) and Pd/C (2.00 g, 1.88 mmol) in THF (150 mL) was stirred at 25° C. under H2 overnight, filtered through a pad of Celite, and concentrated. Purification via a column chromatography afforded the title compound as a white solid (15 g).
