Trifluoroacetic acid (0.2 mL) was added to a solution of tert-butyl 4-({4-[(E)-1-(5-chloro-6-methoxypyridin-2-yl)-2-cyclopentylethenyl]phenyl}sulfonyl)piperazine-1-carboxylate (178 mg) in chloroform (3 mL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for three hours. The reaction solution was concentrated under reduced pressure to give 1-({4-[(E)-1-(5-chloro-6-methoxypyridin-2-yl)-2-cyclopentylethenyl]phenyl}sulfonyl)piperazine as a crude product.
