Procedure
Acetic anhydride (85 mg) was added to a solution of (3E)-4-(5-cyclopropyl-6-methoxypyridin-2-yl)-4-[4-(methylsulfanyl)phenyl]but-3-en-1-amine (95 mg) in pyridine (1 mL) under ice-cooling, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for one hour. The reaction solution was poured into 1 M hydrochloric acid, followed by extraction with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and filtered. The solvent was then evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane:ethyl acetate=4:1→0:1) to give N-{(3E)-4-(5-cyclopropyl-6-methoxypyridin-2-yl)-4-[4-(methylsulfanyl)phenyl]but-3-en-1-yl}acetamide as a colorless amorphous (87 mg, 81%).
