48% hydrobromic acid (2 mL) was added to a solution of N-{(3E)-4-(5-cyclopropyl-6-methoxypyridin-2-yl)-4-[4-(methylsulfanyl)phenyl]but-3-en-1-yl}acetamide (87 mg) in 1,4-dioxane (2 mL), and the mixture was stirred at 80° C. for one hour. The reaction solution was poured into water, followed by extraction with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and filtered. The solvent was then evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was recrystallized from a mixed solvent of chloroform-ethyl acetate-hexane. Filtration gave the title compound as a colorless solid (54 mg, 64%).
