To a stirred solution of 6-iodo-3-(3-methoxy-4-((6-methoxypyridin-3-yl)methoxy)benzyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (1.00 g, 1.99 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (15 mL) was added copper(I) cyanide (0.53 g, 6.00 mmol). The mixture was heated to 150° C. After 5 h, the mixture was allowed to cool to room temperature and was concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (2% methanol/dichloromethane elute) to give 0.53 g (66%) of 3-(3-methoxy-4-((6-methoxypyridin-3-yl)methoxy)benzyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine-6-carbonitrile as a yellow solid.
