Under an argon atmosphere, at 0° C., a 4 N solution of hydrogen chloride in dioxane (11.4 ml) is added dropwise to a solution of tert-butyl 4-{4-[5-(methoxycarbonyl)-4,5-dihydro-1,2-oxazol-3-yl]1,3-thiazol-2-yl}piperidine-1-carboxylate (B), 1.20 g) in dioxane (12 ml). The reaction mixture is stirred at 0° C. and then gradually warmed to room temperature. After 4 hours, the solvent and excess hydrogen chloride are removed. This gives 4-{4-[5-(methoxycarbonyl)-4,5-dihydro-1,2-oxazol-3-yl]1,3-thiazol-2-yl}piperidinium chloride (1.10 g, 98%).
