In a 10 ml, pear-shaped flask, (S)-tert-butyl 2-(5-(4-bromophenyl)-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-4,4-difluoropyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (1.0 g, 2.33 mmol) was combined with CH2Cl2 (6 ml) to give a light yellow solution. TFA (2.96 g, 2 mL, 26.0 mmol) was added and stirred for 2 hr. It was concentrated in vacuo to afford (S)-5-(4-bromophenyl)-2-(4,4-difluoropyrrolidin-2-yl)-1H-imidazole as a viscous oil and used for the next step without further purification.
