To a solution of ethyl 2-(ethyl(3-((5-(2-fluoro-5-methoxyphenyl)-6-neopentylpyridin-2-yl)methoxy)phenyl)amino)acetate (entire amount) in ethanol (3.0 mL) was added 1N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (2.0 mL), and the mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 1 hr. 1N Hydrochloric acid was added, and the reaction mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate/hexane) to give the title compound (90 mg) as pale-yellow crystals.
