Procedure

To a mixture of tert-butyl 2-{[3-methoxy-4-(3-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)phenyl]carbonyl}hydrazinecarboxylate (0.22 g) in methanol (2 mL) was added hydrochloric acid (4M ethyl acetate solution, 1 mL) at room temperature, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hr. The precipitated solid was collected by filtration, and washed with ethyl acetate to give the title compound (0.15 g).
