Methyl iodide (0.520 mL) was added to a mixture of ethyl 3-(3,4-difluorophenyl)-2-thioxopiperidine-3-carboxylate (500 mg) in acetonitrile (5 mL) at room temperature, and the mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 3 hr. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, the mixture was washed with saturated aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate solution and saturated brine and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (530 mg).
