A solution of 2-sulfamoylaminocyclopent-1-enecarbonitrile (Example 107a) (108 mg, 0.57 mmol) in EtOH was treated with NaOH (2.0 N, 0.5 mL), and the resultant solution was heated to 100° C. and stirred at that temperature for 4 h. After it was cooled down to room temperature, the reaction solution was carefully neutralized with 2N HCl while it was vigorously stirred at 0° C. The reaction solution was dried down under vacuum, and the residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel eluting with 10% MeOH in dichloromethane to give the title compound. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 1.69-1.63 (m, 2H), 2.2 (t, J=7.6 Hz, 2H), 2.3 (t, J=6.8 Hz, 2H), 5.12 (s, 2H). MS 188 (MH+).
