Procedure
To a solution of methyl 2-(4-(5-(4-fluorophenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)piperidin-1-yl)acetate (97.8 mg, 0.306 mmol) in ethanol (1 mL) was added 2 N NaOH (1 mL). The cloudy reaction suspension was stirred for 4 h until LCMS confirmed the reaction was complete. The mixture was treated with 0.7 mL 1 N HCl dropwise until pH 7. The solvent was evaporated and the residue triturated with ether. The precipitate was filtered, washed with ether and dried under high vacuum, yielding the title compound as a white solid as a NaCl salt (130 mg) which was used without further purification. 1H NMR (400 MHz, chloroform-d) δ ppm 8.10 (dd, J=9.03, 5.02 Hz, 2H) 7.33 (t, J=8.78 Hz, 2H) 3.47 (br. s., 4H) 3.30 (s, 2H) 3.43-3.55 (br. s., 2H) 2.28-2.45 (m, 2H) 2.07-2.28 (m, 2H). MS (m/z, MH+): 306.3
