To a cooled (0° C.) solution of (rac)-tert-butyl 2-(4-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-6,7-dihydro-5H-cyclopenta[c]pyridin-7-yloxy)acetate (example 97) (235 mg, 0.597 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (2 mL) was added 4M HCl in dioxane (1.49 mL, 5.97 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 h. The mixture was evaporated to dryness to give the title compound (221 mg, 99%) as a grey solid. MS: 338.5 (M+H+).
