2-(4-(methoxycarbonyl)-2-methylphenyl)acetic acid (295 mg) was treated with resorcinol (190 mg) in BF3Et2O at 90° C. over night. After aqueous work-up with ethyl acetate and column purification, the desired product (296 mg) was isolated as an oil.
