A solution of (R)-2-methyl-N-(1-(6-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)pyridin-3-yl)ethyl)propane-2-sulfinamide (single diastereomer) (6.15 g, 18.9 mmol, Step-4) in 8M hydrochloric acid in methanol (20 mL) is stirred at rt for 2 hours. The reaction mixture is concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue is crystallized from n-hexane/EtOAc to give 4.40 g (90% yield) of the title compound as white solid.
