Reagents, catalysts & solvents 1
Procedure
1-(4-Bromophenyl)piperidin-4-amine (255 mg) and triethylamine (280 μL) are dissolved in dichloromethane (3 mL), treated with ethyl chloroformate (105 μL) and stirred for 2 hours. The mixture is partitioned between dichloromethane and water. The organic phase is washed with water and the combined aqueous phases are extracted with dichloromethane. The organic phases are combined, washed with brine and dried (MgSO4). The solvents are evaporated and the residue is chromatographed on silica gel (cyclohexane/ethyl acetate 99:1→70:50) to give the title compound. LC (method 2): tR=1.04 min; Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=327 [M+H]+.
