A solution of triphenylphosphine (5.32 g) in DCM (60 ml) was added to a solution of (Z)-3-tributylstannanylprop-2-en-1-ol (Intermediate 5, 6.4 g) and carbon tetrabromide (9.18 g) in DCM (60 mL) and the mixture was stirred for 2.5 hours. The mixture was concentrated to low volume and pentane was added. The solids were removed by filtration and the filtrate was evaporated to dryness. Pentane was added and the solids were again removed by filtration and the filtrate was evaporated to dryness to give ((Z)-3-bromoprop-1-enyl)-tributylstannane (12.14 g) as an oil.
