Into a 10-mL sealed tube, was placed methyl 3-(indolin-1-yl)-2-phenylquinoxaline-6-carboxylate (150 mg, 0.39 mmol, 1.00 equiv), DDQ (447 mg, 1.97 mmol, 4.00 equiv), DMSO (3 mL). The resulting solution was stirred for overnight at 30° C. in an oil bath. The resulting solution was diluted with 20 mL of H2O. The resulting solids were collected by filtration and applied onto a silica gel column with ethyl acetate/petroleum ether (1:50). This resulted in 30 mg (20%) of methyl 3-(1H-indol-1-yl)-2-phenylquinoxaline-6-carboxylate as a yellow solid.
