Procedure
Methyl 2-hydroxybenzoate (2.75 mL, 21.3 mmol) and 4-chloro-2-fluoro-1-nitrobenzene (1.85 g, 10.6 mmol) were dissolved in acetonitrile (25.0 mL). The cesium carbonate (6.94 g, 21.3 mmol) was added and the reaction mixture was stirred at 80° C. for 24 hours. The mixture was cooled down to room temperature then poor into ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water and brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and evaporated. The crude was purified by flash chromatography (10-30% ethyl acetate in hexanes) to afford title compound 419 (2.55 g, 78%). MS (m/z): 308.2 (M+H). 1H NMR (DMSO-d6) δ (ppm): 8.14 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 1H), 7.98 (dd, J=7.8, 1.6 Hz, 1H), 7.74 (ddd, J=8.1, 7.4, 1.8 Hz, 1H), 7.47 (td, J=7.6, 1.2 Hz, 1H), 7.39 (dd, J=8.8, 2.2 Hz, 1H), 7.36 (dd, J=8.3, 1.1 Hz, 1H), 6.88 (d, J=2.0 Hz, 1H), 3.69 (s, 3H).
