To a suspension of compound 14b (0.78 g, 2.5 mmol) in MeOH (20 mL) was added K2CO3 (1.1 g, 7.5 mmol) and a solution of dimethyl (1-diazo-2-oxopropyl)phosphonate (0.53 g, 2.7 mmol) in MeOH (5 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at rt overnight, diluted with DCM (200 mL), and washed with water (20 mL) and brine (20 mL). The organic layer was dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated. The residue obtained was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel (0-20% EtOAc/DCM) to give compound 18a as a white solid. 1H-NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ (ppm): 8.13 (d, J=5.56 Hz, 1H), 6.11 (d, J=5.56 Hz, 1H), 3.94-4.01 (m, 4H), 3.86-3.93 (m, 4H), 3.41 (s, 1H).
