5 g (19.8 mmol) of 4-hydroxy-1-(4-nitrophenyl)pyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid were stirred in 50 ml of THF at 3° C. 60 ml (59 mmol) of borane-THF complex were added dropwise. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 5 hours. Methanol was added slowly. The reaction mixture was evaporated to dryness. The product was precipitated from saturated sodium chloride solution, filtered off and dried under vacuum. 5.33 g of a yellow powder were obtained.
