Procedure

A solution of 260C (1.01 g, 2.58 mmol) in dichloromethane (50 mL) at 0° C. was treated with TFA (5 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 1.0 hour then allowed to slowly warm to room temperature and stirred for an additional 2.0 hours. The mixture was concentrated, and then azeotropically evaporated with MeOH and toluene. The residue was dissolved in dichloromethane and washed with saturated NaHCO3 (2×50 mL). The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo to give 0.61 g (yield: 81%) of Compound 260D as an oil. It was used in the next step without further purification.
