To a solution of tert-butyl 4-(2,2-difluoroethyl)-2-(5-ethyloxazol-2-yl)-1-oxa-4,9-diazaspiro[5.5]undecane-9-carboxylate (154 mg, 0.37 mmol) in DCM (0.4 mL) was added HCl (464 μL of 4 M solution in dioxane, 1.85 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The solvent and excess HCl were removed under reduced pressure and the residue was triturated with Et2O to yield 4-(2,2-difluoroethyl)-2-(5-ethyloxazol-2-yl)-1-oxa-4,9-diazaspiro[5.5]undecane hydrochloride salt (138 mg, 96%) as a white solid. ESI-MS m/z calc. 315.2. Found 316.3 (M+1)+; Retention time: 1.07 minutes (3 min run).
