A mixture of 4-(2-bromo-5-fluorophenoxy)piperidine from Step 2 (1.90 g, 6.95 mmol), methyl 5-chloropyrazine-2-carboxylate (1.00 g, 5.79 mmol) and potassium carbonate (1.60 g, 11.59 mmol) in dioxane (30 mL) was heated at 100° C. After a period of 2 h, the reaction mixture was partitioned between ethyl acetate and saturated aqueous ammonium chloride. The solvent was separated, dried over sodium sulfate and evaporated. The title compound was purified by flash chromatography (50% ethyl acetate in hexane) to provide the title compound.
