Reaction Steps
The intermediate from Step 1 above is treated with BBr3 in methylene chloride at 0° C. for 12 h. After work-up and purification by a published procedure (J. F. W. McOmie and D. E. West, Org. Synth., Collect. Vol. V, 412 (1973)), the desired compound is obtained.
