Procedure
Add lithium borohydride (0.0097 g, 0.44 mmol) to an ice cold solution of (2R,4R)-4-benzyloxypyrrolidine-1,2-dicarboxylic acid 1-tert-butyl ester 2-methyl ester (0.1 g, 0.29 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (1 mL). Warm slowly to room temperature over 18 hours. Cool in ice bath. Slowly add acetone (1 mL), concentrate and purify (silica gel chromatography, eluting with ethyl acetate/hexanes mixtures) to give the title compound as a colorless oil (0.071 g, 80%).
