Procedure
A mixture of the compound from Step 4c (2.8 g, 7.8 mmol) and 1 N NaOH (15 mL, 15 mmol) in MeOH (30 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was neutralized by 2 N HCl to pH ˜2. The resulting mixture was extracted with EtOAc (50 mL×3). The combined organic phases were washed with NH4Cl and brine, dried (Na2SO4) and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated and residue was purified by flash chromatography (silica gel, EtOAc/CH2Cl2=1/4) giving 0.6 g (29%) of the title compound.
