tert-Butyl 1-[(4-{[(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino]methyl}piperidin-1-yl)methyl]cyclopropanecarboxylate (211 mg, 0.57 mmol, step 2 of Example 3) was dissolved in 10% HCl in dioxane (5 mL) and the mixture was stirred for 4 h at room temperature. Resultant brown suspension was concentrated to give 150 mg (quant.) of the title compound as a pale brown solid. This was used without further purification.
