Procedure

2-Azido-3-trifluoromethyl-benzoic acid (460 mg, 2 mmol, compound IX) was dissolved in 2 ml of SOCl2 and the reaction mixture was heated at 80° C. for 1 hour. The remaining SOCl2 was evaporated in vacuo and the residue was coevaporated with dry benzene. Dry CH2Cl2 (2 ml) was added followed by a dropwise addition of 200 μl of aniline (2 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. Saturated aq. NaHCO3 was added and the product was extracted with CH2Cl2. The resulting amide was purified by recrystallization from methanol. The yleld was 521 mg (86%).
