2.98 g of sodium iodide were added to a solution of 2.09 g of the product of Step B in 31.5 ml of methyl ethyl ketone (M.E.K.), and the mixture was refluxed for 4 hours. After cooling, water was added and extraction was carried out with ethyl acetate. The extracts were washed with water, then with a saturated aqueous solution of sodium chloride, dried and evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure to obtain 2.69 g of the expected product.
