Reaction Steps
14.3 g of 6-benzyl-3-methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-1H-pyrido[4,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4-dione were dissolved in 300 ml of dichloromethane, and 6-benzyl-3-methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-1H-pyrido[4,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4-dione hydrochloride was precipitated with a solution of hydrochloric acid in ether, while cooling with ice. The product was purified by recrystallization from isopropanol.
