Procedure
A mixture of 0.5 g (~1.3 mmol) of 7-cyano-1-(2-ethoxycarbonylethyl)-8-trifluoromethyl[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]quinoxalin-4(5H)-one and 25 ml of 1N sodium hydroxide was stirred at 25° C. for 2 h. The solution was cooled in an ice bath and acidified with 4N hydrochloric acid to pH=2. The precipitate was filtered off to give 0.29 g (~63%) of the title compound.
