Phenyl chloroformate (2.0 g, 12.8 mmol) and n-valeraldehyde (1.3 g, 15.1 mmol) were dissolved in 1,2-dichloroethane (10 ml) and pyridine (0.06 g, 0.76 mmol) was added dropwise to the stirred solution. Stirred at 80° C. for 1 day. Washed with water (10 ml), dried (MgSO4) and concentrated. Purified by flash chromatography (Silikagel 60, petroleum ether/ethyl acetate 95:5). Yield: 0.26 g GC/MS: 242.0 (M+).
