Procedure
77 g (0.77 mol) of 30% strength formaldehyde solution were added dropwise to 187 g (0.77 mol) of di-n-octylamine and 54 g (0.77 mol) of 1,2,4-triazole in 400 ml of methylene chloride (or ethylene chloride) at such a rate that the temperature rose to 30° to 35° C. After addition of 200 g of anhydrous sodium sulphate, the mixture was stirred at 35° to 40° C. for 10 to 20 hours, the suspension was filtered off and the filtrate was evaporated. Yield 244 g (98%) of a clear pale yellow oil, nD20 : 1.4709. ##STR14##
