A mixture of 3-phenyl-1H-pyrazole (1.35 g, 9.36 mmol), 4-methoxybenzyl chloride (1.5 g, 9.7 mmol) and K2CO3 (3.3 g, 24.2 mmol) in methyl ethyl ketone was refluxed for 24 h. The salts were filtered off, and the solvent was removed in vacuo. The residue was purified by a column chromatography on silica gel to yield the title compound (2.2 g, 89%).
