Procedure

To a solution of 4-bromoanisole (0.6 g, 3.2 mmol) in THF was added n-BuLi (2.5M in hexane, 1.5 mL, 3.5 mmol) at −78° C., and continued to stir for 30 min. The product of step 1 (0.48 g, 2.6 mmol) was added. After it was stirred at −78° C. for 30 min, the reaction was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for an additional 1 h. The reaction was quenched with water, extracted with EtOAc, washed with brine and dried over Na2SO4. After the solvent was removed, the residue was purified by a column chromatography on silica gel to yield the title compound (0.6 g, 68%).
