Procedure

A mixture of 2-amino-6-chloro-1-oxo-4-phenyl-1,2-dihydroisoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (210 mg), triethylamine (130 μl), valeraldehyde (81 μl) and methanol (4.2 ml) was stirred at 70° C. for 3.5 hrs. After cooling, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by medium pressure preparative LC (hexane/ethyl acetate=9/1-1/1) to give the title compound (200 mg) as colorless crystals.
