2-Methylsulfonyl-4-(3-pyridyloxy)-5-(4-chlorophenyl)-6-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)pyrimidine from Example 86 (100 mg, 0.2 mmol) with 2 equivalents each of n-butyl lithium and iso-butyl alcohol by the procedure described in Reference Examples 6 and 7 to afford the title compound: HPLC/MS: m/e=500 (M++1); Rt=4.31 min. 1H-NMR 500 MHz (CDCl3): δ 0.96 (d, J=6 Hz, 6H), 2.02-2.10 (m, 1H), 4.01 (d, J=7 Hz, 2H), 7.18-7.30 (m, 6H), 7.39 (s, 1H), 7.40-7.43 (m, 1H), 7.58-7.60 (m, 1H), 8.55 (s, 2H).
