Trifluoroacetic acid (1.5 mL) was added to a solution of (S)-t-butyl 3-(4-(4-chloro-3-((R)-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)ethylamino)phenyl)-5,6-dihydropyridin-1(2H)-yl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (0.83 g, 1.5 mmol) in dichloromethane (3 mL) at room temperature, and the solution was stirred for 1 h. Excess solvent was removed in vacuo, and the residue was diluted with dichloromethane. The organic layer was neutralized with aqueous saturated sodium bicarbonate solution, and the aqueous layer was further extracted with dichloromethane. The combined organic layers were dried (Na2SO4), filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was used without further purification (0.65 g, 1.4 mmol, 96%). MS: (ES) m/z calculated for C24H29ClN3 [M+H]+ 464.1. found 464.
