Procedure
1-(4-tert-Butylphenyl)-2-chloro-1H-indole-3-carboxaldehyde is reacted with 1-methyl piperazine as described in Step 2 of Example 29 to afford 1-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-2-(4-methyl-piperazin-1-yl)-1H-indole-3-carboxaldehyde as a light brown solid. TLC (silica gel, ethyl acetate-16.5% methanol-0.8% 7N methanolic ammonia); Rf 0.23; ESI/MS 376 (M+H), RT 3.4 min; NMR 10.14 (1H, s); 8.12 (1H, d, J=9 Hz); 7.67 (2H, d); 7.45 (2H, d); 7.19 (2H, m); 6.92 (1H, d, J=6 Hz); 3.26 (4H, m); 2.18 (7H, m); 1.37 (9H, s).
