To a solution of 2,4-dichloroquinazoline (12.69 g, 63 mmol) and 3-amino-5-methylpyrazole (6.18 g, 63 mmol) in ethanol (220 mL) is added triethylamine (8.13 mL, 63 mmol) and the reaction mixture is stirred for 3 hours at room temperature. The pale yellow precipitate is then collected by filtration, washed with cold ethanol and dried under vacuum to give (2-chloroquinazolin-4-yl)-(5-methyl-2H-pyrazol-3-yl)-amine.
