20.0 g (100 mmol) 4-bromoacetophenone are added to 300 mL diethylether and cooled down to 0° C. 35.2 mL MeMgBr (3M in diethylether) are added by a dropping funnel. Cooling is removed and the mixture is stirred at r.t. over night. The reaction quenched by careful addition of 150 mL sat. aq. NH4Cl solution and 150 mL water. The resulting mixture is stirred for 20 min. The layers are separated and the org. layer is washed with water (2×), dried with MgSO4 and the solvent is removed in vacuo.
