To a solution of Example 12C (625 mg, 4.03 mmol) in acetonitrile (5 mL) was added 1-fluoro-4-methyl-2-nitrobenzene (1.00 g, 4.03 mmol) and potassium carbonate (1.11 g, 805 mmol). The reaction was heated in an oil bath at 60° C. overnight. The solution was concentrated onto silica gel and purified via flash chromatography (0-100% ethyl acetate/hexanes) to afford the title compound. 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ ppm 7.55-7.60 (m, 1H), 7.22-7.43 (m, 7H), 3.55-3.65 (m, 1H), 3.41-3.59 (m, 2H), 3.36 (s, 3H), 3.09-3.21 (m, 1H), 2.77-2.88 (m, 1H), 2.22-2.62 (m, 7H); MS (APCI+) m/z 384 (M+H)+.
