To a solution of trans-(4-methylcyclohexyl)methanol (160 g, 1.25 mol) in DCM (1500 mL) was added pyridinium chlorochromate (405 g, 1.88 mol) at 0° C., and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. It was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give trans-4-methylcyclohexanecarbaldehyde.
